Teen Admitted to Mental Institution

15 year old Melissa Busekros  of Germany was forcibly admitted into a mental institution . What was her crime?      She is being educated at home by  her parents. That is right because of  the way she is being taught she is being punished.
That is troubling enough but you need to know more on why her family decided to  teach her at home.
Below is  part of  the story which was written  by the  German Home School Association.

In summer 2004, Melissa was told that she would have to repeat the 7th grade at the Christian Ernst Gymnasium (a high school where one can obtain the Abitur, the highest German high school diploma) due to her bad grades in math and latin. The situation in the class played no small part in creating this state of affairs - the high noise levels and canceled classes prevented her from receiving the educational assistance she needed  during school hours. As Melissa had good grades in all the other subjects, repeating the whole year would be mostly a waste of her time, as well as the fact that she would now be in a class even more problematic than the previous year’s. Thus, it was decided by Melissa and her parents that she would be tutored individually at home to meet her specific needs. At her own wish, Melissa only took part in Music and sang in her school choir. The school and the local school authorities were not satisfied with this solution, and consequently expelled Melissa from the school, allocating her to the local Hauptschule (the lowest in the German three-tier high school system).

The Busekros continued educating their daughter at home, with their other school-age children still attending school. At the end of the school year 2005/2006, Melissa was no longer subject to full-time compulsory schooling. In spite of this the Youth Welfare Office (Jugendamt) in Erlangen appealed to the local Family Court, which ordered Melissa and her parents to appear at a hearing, which was consequently attended solely by her father. Melissa was overseas at that point. However, the authorities didn’t relent and wanted to know in detail where Melissa was, resulting in an unannounced visit to the family by the Judge of the Family Court.

The Busekros family is known and much loved by all their neighbors.

Chargers fire Coach

Why  in the world today  do we base everything on being number one in our jobs? A good example of  this is  the San Diego Chargers a few weeks back firing  Head coach Marty Schottenheimer after he led the team to an NFL best 14-2 record last season but failed to deliver a Super Bowl. Please read a posting  I did on my other blog about this. (http://billydaviddickson.blogspot.com/2007/02/chargers-you-can-still-be-sucess-and.html)

Haleigh Lives unlike Terri Schiavo

Haleigh Poutre, soon will be 13. So what you may think. Well her making it to 13 is an answer to prayer, and justice being done in  this world.

You see a year ago, the doctors said that Haleigh Poutre was "virtually brain dead." They thought  there was no hope of recovery. There was no state orders to remove the pretten's feeding  tube and ventilator.
  Thank God she didn't have
Terri Schiavo's - husband going to court to demand she be murdered (murder- my words).
(Haleigh Lives.mp3)  ( 2007-02-21 Haleigh Lives.htm )

Haleigh was put into this condition after being burned and nearly beaten to death by her stepfather.
There seemed to be little hope as even most family members gave up on her.  But, then, something amazing happened.  Haleigh started to breath on her own.  A state agency has tried to keep improvements silent, but Haleigh’s grandmother reports that she can now write part of her name, eat scrambled eggs, and flex a muscle when she’s told she is strong.   She is  is very much alive!

HPV for 6th Garders in Texas

If you are a parent please read this, and for sure if you are a Texas parent. Today the HPV vaccine,  is big news in  the Long Star State, because Gov. Rick Perry is mandating it for girls entering the sixth grade in 2008. Perry's move has turned off  — some lawmakers in his own Republican Party (God Bless them). Some   have asked the governor to rescind the order, but he's standing firm this is reason why we just can't vote for someone because Republican is next to their name. Just because you belong to the grand old party doesn't mean your a social conservative.
Today in Texas The State  House will take its first step  to overturn Gov. Rick Perry's mandate that schoolgirls be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted virus linked to cervical cancer.

"The governor has accomplished his goal of bringing attention to this issue," said Rep. Dennis Bonnen, R-Angleton, author of the bill. "All citizens of Texas will have an opportunity to come to Austin to give an opinion."

Bonnen has signed up more than 60 members as co-authors of House Bill 1098.
Texas House on move against Perry's HPV order | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle)

"Providing the HPV vaccine doesn't promote sexual promiscuity any more than providing the Hepatitis B vaccine promotes drug use," Perry said in a statement. "If the medical community developed a vaccine for lung cancer, would the same critics oppose it claiming it would encourage smoking?"

As I wrote on another blog,  (
http://billydaviddickson.blogspot.com/2007/02/shot-for-sin-in-texas.html ) "if you don't smoke or are around smoke would you need the vaccine? Not! Sixth grade young ladies shouldn't be in bed with some-one. I guess this is what happens to a nation which has forgotten God, and His laws. I hope the good people of Texas next time this governor is up for election will not forget this.

A Mormon in the White House?

Blogger, writer, and radio talk show  host Hugh Hewitt  has a book coming out in which he has spent the last year writing. The book,  ( A Mormon in the White House?: 110 Things Every American Should Know about Mitt Romney.  )"  Hugh Hewitt writes he has spent the last year interviewing Mitt Romney, members of his family and his closest friends, as well as politicians, public figures, historians and religious leaders of all sorts on the question of whether or not Romney's faith ought to be a factor in his election. I haven't read the book, but I hope to. As I wrote  in a posting a few days ago (Yes Mormon  )I'm not a big fan of the Mormon faith, at  the same time I believe I would rather have in the White House somebody who shares my values  on issues like abortion regardless of their faith. I'm not sure I am going have to do a lot of thinking on this.

Sorry from Nebraska: Hagel

Today I feel like on behalf of my state of Nebraska I need to give an apology to the good people of America, and the people of Iraq, and those around the world who care about whipping the Hitlers of our times. You see many of us in Nebraska voted US Senator Chuck Hagel into office a number of years ago. He has become one of the Republicans who are joining the Democrats in being against what the White House is trying to do in Iraq.

I have some questions and thoughts for the good Senator, and others who have spoken out against the war, regardless of their political party.

1. Do you recall what happened in America on September 11, 2001? Is it going to take another 911 attack to show you we are in a war with people who want us dead, and want to destroy this nation as we know it.

2. Senator as you know war is never easy, but should our leaders only do the easy thing. If we had done the easy thing years ago a mad killer by the name of Hitler would be running this nation along with the world and perhaps destroying it. The easy thing isn't always the right thing.

3. Don't you realize what you are saying is doing to the morale of our troops, and how those we are fighting against are using your words to hurt the cause.

4. There is a time to speak out against a policy, but that is before the war starts. If you don't agree with what our leader is doing go talk to him instead of putting yourself in front of the media.

For the record if Hagel runs for President my pick is he will not win his home state. If he runs for the Senate again the leaders of his party from the President down should recall what he did, and not support him.

Yes Mormon

In his radio commentary today, Cal Thomas (http://wabs.wava.com/ram/ctc/ctc20070215.ram ) says he would rather vote for a Mormon who is pro life than a so called member of the grand old party who is pro abortion. While I regard the Mormon church as a non Christian faith  because it adds to the Bible, I do believe Cal brings up points we all should ponder as we decide  who should  lead this nation.

Muslim Chaplain Yes

 http://www.f2a.org/commentaries/mp3/2007-02-15%20%20Muslim%20Chaplain%20Promoted.mp3
At times I wonder if I just have lived too long. This world sees to be going nuts, and nuts. While the Navy worked to sever ties with Chaplain Klingenschmitt, a Muslim chaplain has been treated much differently.

Navy Chaplain Abuhena Mohammed Saifulislam has been given an unusual, personal promotion from the Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England Saifulislam, whose name is Arabic  (sit down for this)for “The Sword of Islam,” received his religious training at a radical Islamic school that was raided by federal officials after 9/11.  Shame on the   Deputy Defense Secretary.
