Chicago students to skip 1st school day

Community leaders on Monday called on students from poorer parts of Chicago to protest inequalities in school funding by skipping the first day of classes. ( Call for Chicago students to skip 1st school day  )

State Sen. James Meeks wants students to spend Sept. 2 trying to enroll in a suburban school district that spends much more per student than Chicago Public Schools does. Critics of the planned protest say it will send the wrong message to children and undermine campaigns to get as many students as possible to attend the first day of classes in the nation's third-largest school district.

(What a wonderful thing to teach kids, if you don't like what is going on just stay home. Also why is it private schools who don't have the money that our government schools have are doing a better job of teaching kids. We need choice in education and it is time for people of all kinds to remove their children from these government schools. )

(Ruling on scholarship money for Colorado Christian University

A federal appeals court ruling that a Christian university in Colorado can receive state scholarship money is the latest in a string of legal victories for religious schools seeking public dollars. (Ruling on scholarship money for Colorado Christian University draws praise, criticism.)

The most recent case involved Colorado Christian University, a college of 2,000 students in suburban Denver where most students must attend chapel weekly and sign a promise to emulate the life of Jesus and adhere to biblical teachings.

Colorado Christian faculty must sign a statement that that the Bible is the "infallible Word of God."

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver ruled Wednesday that Colorado overstepped its bounds with a system allowing students to use state scholarship dollars at some religious colleges but not those dubbed "pervasively sectarian" - a judgment that required bureaucrats to investigate such tricky criteria as whether religion courses amounted to neutral study or proselytizing.

(Yes all colleges should be given the same rights still it would be better if  faith based schools would not ask or depend on help from the state.)

Man shot churchgoers over liberal views

An out-of-work truck driver accused of opening fire at a Unitarian church, killing two people, left behind a note suggesting that he targeted the congregation out of hatred for its liberal policies, including its acceptance of gays, authorities said Monday.

(Those of us on the right  and for sure those of us who are faith based must love others including those involve in the gay lifestyle. What this man did was 100% wrong and he should be fully punished. I also heard this man was anti God so I might tell us why he acted the way he did. Read more on this issue right here.)

Baseball Fight

Here  is a YouTube video of the brawl between Dayton and Peoria last night. ( Video    )This video doesn't show it but one of the players throws a  ball at another  player but instead it hits a fan. This is an outrage. Charges should be brought against this player.

Trinidad Checkpoints Prompt Lawsuit -

Trinidad  is a bad part of  Washington, D.C. In response to a recent crime wave in that  neighborhood  police set up vehicle checkpoints to keep would-be people who didn't live in  Trinidad  from being able to get in. Guess what happened some on the left filed  a lawsuit. ( D.C. Police Checkpoints Prompt Lawsuit - Investiga...   )

Then guess what happened the police had to pull out and guess what happened after that. The shootings resumed including the killing of a 13 year old boy. As Cal Thomas (commentary July 25, 2008  ) pointed out in a radio commentary today those on the left who forced the police to move out have blood on their hands.

When possible we need to do all we can  to stop killers. The police were doing their job. Those on the left who fight for rights have got to start thinking about the rights of those who were killed.  Cal is right blood is not only on the hands of the killers but also those  who stopped the police from doing their job. This is an outrage and should upset all of us including  those of us who live far away from D.C.

WNBA suspends 10 players

The WNBA punished so many players for their roles in this week's skirmish that the league is staggering the suspensions by alphabetical order.

"None of us can recall an incident like this," WNBA president Donna Orender said Thursday during a conference call.

The league suspended Detroit assistant coach Rick Mahorn and 10 players following the dustup between the Shock and the visiting Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday.

(This fight like most fights in sports is an outrage. What is this showing young ladies. I hope parents along with  coaches  of high school,  junior high, and grade school players will use this to teach there is a right way to play the game and even when you don't like something that happens in a game you need to show self control. Son of Sam has written a book

In 1976 and 1977 New York City was terrorized by a series of satanic murders. The entire nation was rivited to those bizarre occultic crimes attributed to the "Son of Sam." In time, David Berkowitz, age 24, was arrested for this historic crime spree. Much evidence has revealed that David was steeped in Satanism and participated in rituals in which members of a devil worship helped to commit those crimes.

Please sit down for this today the man who was known as the Son of Sam, David Berkowitz has truly repented of his crimes. He isn't even trying to get out of prison .

David Berkowitz who was raised in a Jewish home today is different person because he has become a follower of Jesus Christ. Yes he should be punished for his crimes but those of us who know God should not forget the Bible teaches nothing is impossible for Jesus.

I just finished reading a book written by David called  Son of Hope Book

It was powerful. For the record David B. isn't making one penny off of this book. Get it and read it.

I have listed  this book under my favorites. You can order the book at  Amazon.com.

Barack Holocaust Views

Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama toured Israel's Holocaust memorial Wednesday, laying a wreath in memory of the 6 million Jews who died and saying, "Ultimately, this is a place of hope."

Obama toured the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial on a Jerusalem hillside as he moved through a busy day of meetings with Israeli and Palestinian officials, including Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Democratic nominee-in-waiting is on a tour of the Mideast and Europe, a journey financed by his campaign and designed to reassure skeptical voters back home of his ability to serve as commander in chief and guide diplomacy after eight years of the Bush administration.

At the Holocaust memorial, Obama wore a white skullcap as he laid a wreath in memory of the victims of the Nazis.

Later, he said: "I am always taken back to sort of the core question of humanity that the Holocaust raises. That is, on the one hand, man's great capacity for evil, and on the other hand, our ability to come together to stop evil."

(We must always stand up to evil. Obama is right the evil Holocaust shows how man is cable of evil things and at the same time it shows how the good people of this world can fight evil. That kind of goes against his view on the Iraq war. Lets not forget that great saying all it takes for evil to happen is for good people to do nothing. Read more on  Obama's trip to the Holocaust memorial right here.)

Obama hails 'miracle' of Israel, reassures Palestinians

Barack Obama called Israel a "miracle" as he courted Jewish voters back home Wednesday, but left Palestinians with the impression he would plunge into peacemaking if he makes it to the White House.

On the latest stage of his presidential-style tour through the Middle East and Europe, the Democratic candidate met top Palestinian and Israeli leaders, as he tried to convince Americans he is ready for the world stage.

US polls showed Obama is yet to solidify the normally solidly Democratic bloc of American Jewish voters, and he took pains to portray himself as a staunch friend of Israel, just over three months before the US election. .

( Obama is right the state of Israel is a miracle. God has blessed the Jewish people and those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who don't bless Israel will be in trouble. However if he works on behalf of  the Palestinians for peace, he will be working against Israel. You know the saying peace at any price. If Jewish voters are smart they will give their support to McCain who for awhile has been a solid backer of the Jewish state. Boycott McDonald's

(Some on the right including those who I have very high respect for are calling for people of faith and or those who follow so called family values to boycott McDonalds.)

"It is about McDonald's, as a corporation, refusing to remain neutral in the culture wars.  McDonald's has chosen not to remain neutral but to give the full weight of their corporation to promoting the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage."

"McDonald's sponsored the 2007 San Francisco Gay Pride parade with a television commercial. In the ad, a McDonald's official brags that it is "a company that actively demonstrates its commitment to the gay and lesbian community."

(The above  statements comes right off of the American Family Association web site who started this boycott. Now let me make it clear McDonalds is 100% wrong for supporting the sinful and immoral Pride parade, and they are also wrong for supporting same sex marriage. However I believe a boycott is the wrong action plan for those of us who don't agree with them. When you take part in a boycott your relationship with the people you are boycotting ends. Also too often some in the so called religious right act like boycotts can make people who don't follow our faith or values embrace our ideas on what is right and wrong. They don't. Same sex marriage is taking place because our culture has turned it's back on God and moral values. America needs a moral and spiritual change which can only come through God. We must pray for that. I plan to keep eating at McDonalds and praying for people in America including those who run this chain to be changed.)

Radio Host Angers Parents of Autistic Kids

Radio talk show host Michael Savage, who described 99 percent of children with autism as brats, said Monday he was trying to "boldly awaken" parents to his view that many people are being wrongly diagnosed.

Some parents of autistic children have called for Savage's firing after he described autism as a racket last week. "In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out," Savage said on his radio program last Wednesday.

(While I don't think people should be fired for saying  hurtful things Mr. Savage was 100% wrong. He needs to do some reading on this illness and spend time with parents who have autistic children. Too often today we do put children on drugs still I don't believe that is the case with this issness. Read more of this story and listen to a sound copy of what Savage said right here.)

N.Y. Times Muzzles McCain (Breaking News)

  • The New York Times on Friday blocked an opinion piece submitted by John McCain to the newspaper shortly after it printed a piece by his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, McCain campaign officials confirmed to FOX News on Monday.

  • “I’d be very eager to publish the senator on the op-ed page. However, I’m not going to be able to accept this piece as currently written. I’d be pleased, though, to look at another draft. Let me suggest an approach,” Times op-ed editor David Shipley wrote the campaign via an e-mail later distributed by McCain’s team.

  • “It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama’s piece. To that end, the article would have to articulate, in concrete terms, how Senator McCain defines victory in Iraq. It would also have to lay out a clear plan for achieving victory — with troops levels, timetables and measures for compelling the Iraqis to cooperate. And it would need to describe the Senator’s Afghanistan strategy, spelling out how it meshes with his Iraq plan,” Shipley wrote.

  • (So if I read this right ,for Sen. McCain to have his column printed in the N.Y. Times he would have to embrace things like timetables which he doesn't believe in. Now the N.Y. Times has the right to print whoever they would like but should they be telling a man  running for President what to write when they printed a piece by Obama. This proves the N.Y. Times like much of the media is on the left. They don't report and let us decide instead they only give us stuff from the left. Read more on this news item New York Times Blocked Op-Ed Response.)

Gore compares offshore drilling to invasion of Iraq

In a surprise appearance at Netroots Nation — which apparently was the worst-kept secret in Austin, Texas — former Vice President Al Gore followed up a speech by Nancy Pelosi by laying out a narrative on climate change and the energy crisis that seems ready-made for the Obama campaign to download.

“If you look at the seriousness of the climate crisis, you see how it ties to the economic crisis and the national security threat that we face,” he said. “200 billion dollars are being sent overseas just from oil.”

“The idea that we can drill our way out of this is just so absurd,” he said, comparing the push for offshore oil drilling — which has gained popularity and put environmentalists on the defense — to dealing with a hangover by having another drink.

(Mr. Gore needs to get a life and start thinking about what is best for the American people. Instead of just putting down what  President Bush is trying to do, what would he do? To think this man could have been our President makes my stomach hurt. Read more of this story right here.)

Court tosses FCC 'wardrobe malfunction' fine

A federal appeals court on Monday threw out a $550,000 indecency fine against CBS Corp. for the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show that ended with Janet Jackson's breast-baring "wardrobe malfunction."

The three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Federal Communications Commission "acted arbitrarily and capriciously" in issuing the fine for the fleeting image of nudity.

The 90 million people watching the Super Bowl, many of them children, heard Justin Timberlake sing, "Gonna have you naked by the end of this song," as he reached for Jackson's bustier.

The court found that the FCC deviated from its nearly 30-year practice of fining indecent broadcast programming only when it was so "pervasive as to amount to 'shock treatment' for the audience."

(This is an outrage. However it is also another time for parents to be taught that they need to know what their kids are watching. Still you don't think a Super Bowl Half Time Show is going to be the  R-rated kind. Read more on this issue Court tosses FCC 'wardrobe malfunction' fine.)

Obama Trip Could Push Rock-Star Persona to New Heights

Barack Obama’s advisers insist his coming trip abroad is not a campaign swing. Even so, the high-profile journey has all the trappings of a rock-star tour. ( Obama Trip Could Push Rock-Star Persona to New Heights )

The Illinois senator’s trip to Europe and the Middle East has generated so much interest that all three TV network news anchors are planning to accompany the candidate.

(I hope the people of America will embrace an idea the world seems numb to, we as a nation aren't voting for a rock star but for a  President who lead our nation for the next four years and perhaps 8 years.)
