12-year-old to judge: "I won't disappoint you"

Kameron Jones had a few words for the judge after learning Tuesday that he would be placed in Boys Town’s intensive program for troubled youth.

The 12-year-old stood up straight and faced Douglas County Juvenile Court Judge Douglas Johnson. In a soft but firm voice, Kameron made a vow.

“I just want to thank you for this opportunity, and I want you know that I won’t disappoint you.“

Moments earlier, Johnson placed Kameron in Boys Town on the recommendation of Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine and the boy’s family.

Kameron has admitted to fatally shooting his friend, Anthony Ray, 15, on Nov. 8. Kameron and another 15-year-old, Tony Robinson, told police that they thought the gun was empty when it was placed against Anthony’s head.

Ill. Gov. Blagojevich pledges to fight, won't quit

A combative Gov. Rod Blagojevich served notice Friday that he has no intention of quitting over his corruption arrest, declaring: "I will fight. I will fight. I will fight until I take my last breath. I have done nothing wrong." The forceful three-minute speech marked the first time the former amateur boxer directly addressed the allegations since his arrest 10 days earlier. Full Story»

(Well it looks like there is going to be a fight in Ill. I hope the other powers and leaders in that state will do what is right and bring the full weight of the law down on Gov. Blagojevich. If this man truly cared about the people of his state and doing what is right he would step down at once.)

Adam Walsh case transformed missing kid searches

The abduction happened 27 years ago, at a time when parents routinely left their children playing in the toy store, unattended, and continued shopping.

But when Reve Walsh returned to pick up her 6-year-old son, he wasn't there. Over the mall loudspeaker, the plea came: "Adam Walsh, please come to customer service."

Two weeks later, fishermen discovered the boy's severed head in a canal 120 miles away from the Hollywood mall. His body was never found.

The case led to advances in police searches for missing youngsters and a notable shift in the view parents and children have of the world.

On Tuesday, police closed their investigation. They said a serial killer who died more than a decade ago in prison was responsible for Adam's death. They admitted making crucial errors in the case and apologized to the Walshes.

But Adam's death, and his father's transformation from a hotel developer to an activist, helped put missing children's faces on milk cartons and in mailboxes, started fingerprinting programs and increased security at schools and stores.

(What happened to little Adam was sick and evil. What his dad has done since to help others who have been hurt by crime  is a story of good winning over evil. Read more on this issue Adam Walsh case transformed missing kid searches.)

O.J.ustice

In the matter or Orenthal James Simpson, justice was a little late, but last Friday -- 13 years after justice was delayed in a Los Angeles double murder trial -- it refused to be denied in a Las Vegas courtroom. Simpson was sentenced to between nine and 33 years behind bars for his role in last year's kidnapping and armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers at Palace Station Hotel and Casino.

District Judge Jackie Glass said this trial had nothing to do with the previous murder trial at which Simpson was acquitted for murdering his wife, Nicole, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. Maybe not in her eyes, but in the eyes of virtually everyone else who believes the earlier verdict was a miscarriage of justice, this trial was just deserts.
(The above is from Cal Thomas in a column he wrote.Read more of what Cal wrote, below.)

In a statement before sentencing, Simpson said he didn't know he was "doing anything illegal." He must have been the only one.
Even if he serves the minimum sentence, which is unlikely, life is effectively over for the 61-year-old Simpson. He received justice for what he did this time and retroactive justice for what a civil court concluded he did to his wife and Ron Goldman. Simpson got what he deserved. That should provide some satisfaction to the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson, whose "stolen property" is beyond recovery.
(OJ can run but he can't hide anymore. The Bible says we reap what we sow. Pray for OJ and all those who have been impacted by the way he has chosen to live his life like the Goldman family, and his own kids. Do take time to read all of the Cal Thomas column  O.J.ustice.)

Jail for cussing: Attorney gets six months for F-word...

Brautigam, who is an attorney but isn't licensed in Ohio, asked Ruehlman for more time to file documents. Ruehlman gave it to him.

As Koenig and Brautigam turned to walk away from the judge, Brautigam called Koenig "a (bleeping) liar."

"He used the famous F-word," Koenig said. "(Ruehlman) asked Mr. Brautigam if he said that."

Brautigam admitted he had and had directed it at Koenig.

Ruehlman cited Brautigam for contempt and sent him to jail for six months.

Shocking video at Planned Parenthood

New footage released today from an undercover camera inside an abortion clinic in Bloomington shows Planned Parenthood staff deliberately violating the state's mandatory reporting laws for sexual abuse.

The footage shows Lila Rose, a UCLA student journalist and president of right-to-life advocacy group Live Action, posing as a 13-year-old girl. In an appointment with a Planned Parenthood nurse, Rose says she has been impregnated by a 31-year-old man, a clear case of child molestation under Indiana state law.

(This video should show everyone that those at Planned Parenthood don't care about young women instead they just want to push the views of the radical left  even if it means sending an abused girl back to the one who has abused her. Watch the video and see what you think  Shocking video at Planned Parenthood .)

One Year Ago Mall Killings. Why ?

I will never forget what I was doing when news hit. I was taking my afternoon nap around 1:30 P.M. when I saw on the world wide web or on local TV that there had been a shooting at the West Roads Mall here in Omaha, Nebraska. I have gone to that mall many times and it is not too far from my house.

Why did this happen of course no one knows what was in this young man’s mind.

A young man is the one to blame. He made a wrong choice.

At the same time he had a troubled life it is too bad he didn’t meet somebody who could have helped him. This may explain why he did this but it doesn’t excuse his choice.

Also in our nation we have forsaken God.

To find out more of my thoughts on why these terrible killings happened please check out a video I just posted today One Year Ago Mall Killings in Om...

One year ago today (December 5th) the city of my birth  and where I still live was the top  news story around the nation. The reason a troubled young man who was upset went to a shopping mall and opened fire killing   eight souls and then he took his own life.  Below are some places where you can read about that horrible day here in Omaha.

Old Kind of Discipline

Brothers Kip and Cole Russell shivered as the sun began to set late Wednesday afternoon and the wind picked up, but they knew they weren’t going anywhere.

The brothers were going to spend the next hour and an hour again on Thursday publicly apologizing for shoplifting from a nearby Dollar General store on a busy street

, the brothers carried bright orange signs outlining their indiscretions.

It was Cole, 15, who went into the store and stuck a small ax under his coat while Kip, 12, remained outside.  Watch a video I did on this issue  (Old Kind of Discipline)

Gunshots in Von Maur sparked fear, panic, heroism

Almost every survivor in the Von Maur store that fateful day would later recall this: furious gunfire and panic, followed by endless minutes of paralyzing fear and uncertainty. And through it all, the festive holiday music played on.

It was a classic Venus and Mars moment, and it nearly got Jeff Schaffart killed.

Jeff and Carrie Schaffart were shopping Dec. 5 for a red velvet Christmas dress for their 2-year-old, Maizie.

He knew Maizie's Christmas card photo was important. But to him, both of the lacy dresses his wife was considering seemed perfectly fine. He was getting frustrated with her indecision.

To Carrie, there was a difference, and it did matter. She was a little upset that her husband, in such typical male fashion, was not offering any input.

Antsy about getting back to work, 34-year-old Jeff wandered away toward the store's atrium.

There, he crossed paths with Maggie Webb, walking the opposite direction. The store manager was answering a call for more checking help in the busy girls department.

Schaffart turned and sauntered back toward the back wall of the store, where his wife stood, still pondering dresses.

He was barely into his return trip when the first shots rang out, so close behind him the air rocked.

With dark intent, and dressed to match, the black-clad Robert Hawkins came off the third-floor elevator about 1:42 p.m. The 19-year-old, a disaffected dropout with a long history of mental illness, was determined to take a toll in innocent blood.

Stopping Porn, Nebraska Gov.

Voicing disgust, Gov. Dave Heineman  said Tuesday that he planned to review a policy that requires state employees to help patients at a state hospital buy pornography.

The policy came to light in a news story reported in the  Omaha World-Herald Sunday concerning an alleged sexual assault at the Beatrice State Developmental Center.

The person suspected in the assault, a developmentally disabled man, had obtained permission from a treatment team to possess pornography and had been driven by state employees to two sex shops to buy it.

(Good for the Nebraska Gov. He is doing the right thing. It is sick that workers in my state who are paid  by tax payers can help those trusted to their care to buy porn. Some of those  Nebraska tax payers have been hurt by porn. Watch out for the ACLU to fight the the Nebraska Gov. on this issue. Bush pardons 14 but not two Border Agents

President George W. Bush has granted pardons to 14 individuals and commuted the prison sentences of two others convicted of misdeeds ranging from drug offenses to tax evasion, from wildlife violations to bank embezzlement, The Associated Press learned Monday.

The new round of White House pardons are Bush's first since March and come less than two months before he will end his presidency. The crimes committed by those on the list also include offenses involving hazardous waste, food stamps, and the theft of government property. (Bush pardons 14 and commutes 2 prison sentences.)

( I hae not heard any news that the President is going to pardon those border agents  Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. They were charged with shooting a drug smuggler, Osvaldo Aldrete Davila. It was their words against Davila words. I have yet to understand how those in our government who brought the charges will take the words of  a drug smuggler over two of our agents. See more on this caseConvicted Ex-Border Agents Hope for Pardons From Bush. )

(President Bush should do the right thing and give these two men a pardon. If he can pardon  those who have committed drug  crimes why can't he do the same for these two men.)

Elderly woman attacked by gay marriage protesters

An elderly woman who attended a gay rights protest carrying a cross to voice her support of the new California ban on gay marriage says she was attacked by demonstrators and now may press charges. ( Elderly woman attacked by gay marriage protesters    )

Click here for more on this story from The Desert Sun.

Click here to see the video on YouTube.

( It looks to me like the radical gays on that video don't care about freedom for others in this nation. They not only want us to accept what they are doing but they want to force it on us. Those who attacked this little old lady should be charged with some kind of crime. It won't be a hate crime but if  she had attacked them you better believe  she would be charged with a hate crime.)

Mormon church blames powder hoax on gay activists

The Mormon church on Friday blamed opponents of California's gay marriage ban for sending hoax mailings containing white powder to temples, while a group that also supported the measure condemned "acts of domestic terrorism against our supporters."  (  Mormon church blames powder hoax on gay activists )
Investigators have not publicly cited any evidence that the mailings were linked to the Mormon church's support of the measure, and a gay rights group in Utah disputed that gay protesters were involved.

The letters were sent to the Salt Lake City headquarters of the church, where powder spilled on a mail clerk's hand, and to a temple in Los Angeles. Both packages tested nontoxic, the FBI said Friday.

The two temples were sites of recent protests against the church's support for a California ballot initiative that superseded a court decision allowing gay marriage.

(I have posted before I don't follow the  doctrine of the Mormon  church but I am so glad that Mormons, Evangelicals, Catholics, and others worked together in CA. to say the court was wrong. The will of the people is marriage should be between one man and one lady. Yes, we should care about all people including those spirituality trapped in the gay life but that doesn't mean that we should say they have the right to get married. Who is the ones showing hate now in how they are treating the Mormon Church. They need to get over it and admit the voters  have spoken.)
