Interview With Bobby Jindal

 Q. What lessons do you think Republicans should learn from the last two disastrous -- for them -- election cycles?

A. There are at least three lessons that immediately jump out at me. The first is that the party must consistently do what it says. You can't be the party of fiscal discipline and tolerate the kind of spending that our party has accepted in the last several years, especially in Washington. Our actions have to match our rhetoric. If the Democrats had proposed many of the spending initiatives and projects that Republicans ended up approving, we would have been the first to criticize them. It isn't just earmarks. Look at some of the discretionary spending increases in Washington.

(The above is part of interview Cal Thomas did with the Gov. of Lousiana who is pictured below. Read more  below.)

We went to Washington to change Washington, but we became a captive of Washington. We were supposed to be the party of outsiders. We became what we were elected to change.

Q. How do you think President-elect Obama is doing so far?

A. The president deserves our support as Americans. In church, we pray for our president, whether we voted for him or not. I think we should look for opportunities to work across party lines with him. I also think as Americans we also have an obligation to stand on principle when we disagree. We should genuinely want him to succeed.

(We need not only more Republicans  like Gov. Jindal we need more Americans like him. Who will put nation ahead of party. Read the whole interview Cal Thomas did here .)

Obama to end 'don't ask, don't tell'... Developing

President-elect Barack Obama will allow gays to serve openly in the military by overturning the controversial "don't ask, don't tell" policy that marred President Clinton's first days in office, according to incoming White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. (Gibbs is pictured below)

The startling pronouncement came during a Gibbs exchange with members of the public who sent in questions that were answered on YouTube.

"Thadeus of Lansing, Mich., asks, 'Is the new administration going to get rid of the "don't ask, don't tell policy?'" said Gibbs, looking into the camera. "Thadeus, you don't hear a politician give a one-word answer much. But it's, 'Yes.'" (  Obama to end 'don't ask, don't tell'... Developing...      )

(Besides this being the wrong thing which I pointed out in a posting I did last week, it also will hurt Obama far as the voters go, see  Obama era expected to end taboo on gays in military. If Obama cared about helping this nation. He would talk to those in the Arm Forces before he does anything.)

Nelson's goal: reining in liberals

Democrat Ben Nelson of Nebraska is reaching out to fellow moderates in the Senate to keep his party from getting carried away with its increased power on Capitol Hill. (  Nelson's goal: reining in liberals   )
Democrats have expanded their majorities in the Senate and House and will soon control the White House, but Nelson said he wants to help prevent liberals from taking over the agenda.

"Those of us who are more center-oriented will try to keep that from happening," Nelson said in an interview.

(Note and breaking news to Nelson the Democart party is being run today by the radical left. Obama is part of the left weather he will act like it as President is something we will have to wait and see. The Democrats who have power support abortion on demand, higher taxes, etc. )

Richard John Neuhaus dies of cancer

The Rev. Richard John Neuhaus, one of the nation's leading conservative Catholic intellectuals and founder of the journal First Things, died shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday of complications from cancer. He was 72.

Father Neuhaus was born one of eight children in Pembroke, Ontario, to a Lutheran minister and initially followed in his father's footsteps - graduating from Concordia Theological Seminary and becoming a Lutheran minister.

He began political life as a liberal. An associate of Martin Luther King Jr., he backed Eugene McCarthy for president at the 1968 Democratic convention and led, along with actor Paul Newman, a tumultuous Chicago press conference backing the minority plank against the Vietnam War.

But starting with the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision that declared abortion a constitutional right and running through President Jimmy Carter's 1979 White House Conference on the Family, Father Neuhaus began moving to the right, becoming a supporter of Ronald Reagan.

He converted to Catholicism in 1990, was ordained a priest by Cardinal John O'Connor of New York a year later and became one of the leading figures - along with Michael Novak and George Weigel - in advancing a type of neoconservatism among Roman Catholics.
In the 1990s, Neuhaus co-founded the group Evangelicals and Catholics Together with former Nixon White House counsel Charles Colson, which helped cement the political alliance between two groups that had long been suspicious of each other.
(This man was quite a thinker. No matter what one thinks of people of faith being part of the political culture this man did make a bigger impact. Now I did have issue  and do have issue with the document he helped to write Evangelicals and Catholics Together because it read like all  people of the Catholic faith are right with God. As a former Catholic I know that isn't correct and the same goes for every soul no matter what church they belong to. However now is not the time to debate that. I wish this man's family the best. May God bless them as they cope with their loss. Below are links that the above information came from. )

Barack Obama wants to be the "Abortion President

It looks more and more like Barack Obama wants to be the  "Abortion President" as he names one pro. abortion  hardline activist after another to his  leadership team. The latest looks like it will be  neurosurgeon and CNN medical reporter Sanjay Gupta to become the next Surgeon General.

Here's the story from LifeNews.com. Incoming president Barack Obama appears to be expanding on the steady stream of abortion advocates he is appointing to top administration posts. His latest choice appears to be pro-abortion CNN medical reporter Sanjay Gupta to become the next Surgeon General.

Gupta is a practicing neurosurgeon and considered a media celebrity of sorts for his role in reporting on medical matters for the massive cable news network.

Although Gupta spends most of his time reporting rather than opining on the topics of the day, he appears to favor abortions.

Gupta has been accused of supporting abortions for disabled unborn children, opposing protections for pro-life medical professionals, and denying the risks associated with the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug.

In a December report for CNN, Gupta appeared to join abortion advocates in condemning the Bush administration for approving new regulations that offer more protections for doctors and medical centers not wanting to be involved in abortions.

ILLINOIS HOUSE IMPEACHES BLAGOJEVICH (Breaking News)

In a dramatic display of anger and solidarity over a political scandal that has made Illinois a national laughingstock, lawmakers on Friday voted 114-1 to impeach disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich. (   BLAGO IMPEACHED...    )

It's the first time in the state's history that the Illinois House has voted to impeach its governor. The impeachment proceedings will now move to the Illinois Senate for trial. That trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 26.

The one lawmaker voting against impeachment was Rep. Milton Patterson, a Chicago Demorcrat who represents the South Side. Rep Elga Jefferies, also a Chicago Democrat, voted present.

Before the vote, lawmakers lined up to denounce the governor. They expressed anger and embarrassment over his alleged behavior, which includes a criminal complaint that he attempted to sell President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat.

(This was the right move but it took too long. The Gov. has his man in the Senate and most  legal minds I have heard believe his man will be able to stay in the Senate. What should have been done earlier is Democrat leaders should have called for a special election in ILL.  to replace President Obama in the Senate. It is too late for  that now. Oh well at least the Gov. is going to have an Impeachment trial.)

Obama era expected to end taboo on gays in military...

Sixteen years after Bill Clinton tried to end restrictions on gays in the military, the US armed forces under Barack Obama may be forced to give homosexuals the same welcome as non-gays.

Under president Clinton, the policy that once saw homosexuals discharged from US military service evolved to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," allowing gays to remain in the military so long as they did not reveal their sexual orientation.

Obama has pledged to overhaul current law.

"The key test for military service should be patriotism, a sense of duty, and a willingness to serve. Discrimination should be prohibited," reads an entry on the president-elect's transition website.

Shortly after taking the oath of office in 1993, Clinton originally moved for an outright ban on discrimination based on sexual orientation in the military

(If Obama does this it will very much hurt him and  make it more  likely he will be a one term President. The purpose of the arm forces is to defend our great nation and  not encourage the ideas of the radical left. Why should a committed follower of Jesus who is in the arm forces  be forced to sleep next to  a man who might be gay. Obama's CIA chief pick short on experience

President-elect Barack Obama's
selection of an old White White House hand to head the CIA shows a preference for a strong manager over intelligence expert. ( Watch )
Obama's decision to name Leon Panetta to lead the US intelligence agency surprised the spy community and signaled the Democrat's intention for a clean break from Bush administration policies.
(What is Obama thinking. We are in a time of war and he wants to name a man who has little if any experience far as Intelligence goes. This looks like a political move instead of putting the nation first.Read more of the above story  Obama's CIA chief pick short on experience.)

Get Ready for Senater Al Franken Thanks to the Democrats of MN.

Strange things keep happening in Minnesota, where the disputed recount in the Senate race between Norm Coleman and Al Franken may be nearing a  outrageous outcome. Thanks to Democratic Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and a meek state Canvassing Board, Mr. Franken may emerge as an illegitimate victor.

Mr. Franken started the recount 215 votes behind Senator Coleman, but he now claims a 225-vote lead and suddenly the man who was insisting on "counting every vote" wants to shut the process down. He is being helped  by Mr. Ritchie and his four fellow Canvassing Board members, who have delivered inconsistent rulings and are ignoring glaring problems with the tallies...

Read more on this Wall Street Journal story here. It's just one more act of political corruption  being done by the Democrats who told us eight years ago they wanted justice far as  the elections go. Things have changed , of course their man is winning this time around.

DICK MORRIS: FRANKEN STEALING SENATE SEAT

Dear Friend,

The Democrats are on the verge of seating Al Franken as the next U.S. Senator from Minnesota.

This is simply an outrage!  (  http://www.vote.com/mmp_printerfriendly.php?id=1291    )

On Election Day, Republican Norm Coleman was ahead by hundreds of votes.

Since then, Franken and liberal allies like George Soros have raised millions to wage a legal fight contesting every Coleman ballot.
(The above is part of a column written by Dick Morris. Morris is right something smells. If the Democrats are able to send this man to DC it will be an outrage and the state of MN. will be black balls for years to come. I will feel about MN. the way a late Uncle of man felt about GA. after they gave us Jimmy Carter. By the way you get all of the columns written by Morris free of charge by going to

Former State Attorney General To Senate...

A defiant Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Tuesday appointed a former state attorney general to Barack Obama's former Senate seat, a suprise move that put his opponents in the uncomfortable position of trying to block a veteran political trailblazer from becoming the Senate's only black member. Blagojevich's appointment of Roland Burris injected race into the drama surrounding the embattled governor, who sought to make the issue more about the man he selected rather than the seat he's accused of trying to sell. ( 'Don't let allegations against me taint appointment'...    )

"Please don't allow the allegations against me to taint a good an honest man," the governor said, turning to the smiling 71-year-old standing by his side.

Burris said he discussed the appointment with Blagojevich Sunday night. "I was asked if he would appoint me, would I accept, and the answer is yes," Burris said.

Burris said he has no connection to the charges against Blagojevich, who was arrested earlier this month on charges that he tried to sell Obama's Senate seat to the highest bidder.

(So far I have heard on TV how Roland Burris has nothing to do with the problems that Gov. Rod is facing. However wouldn't it have said something to the voters if  Burris  had said I don't think it is right to accept this offer with all the charges against you Gov. Rod. Also now no matter what Burris  wants his name will be tide to the Gov. of Ill. )
