Christmas All Year Aroud and Lawsuit against Government schools

A parent is suing the Huntington County Community School in Indiana . in federal court, saying religious education classes held on school property violate the establishment clause of the Constitution.

Here is part of a letter which was in my local newspaper.

I feel sorry for Donald (Dec. 24 Pulse) and his belief that Christmas is a false spiritual holiday. He feels that the human race cannot advance unless we cease this unnecessary tradition.   I hope Christmas will always be here for my son and me to enjoy. I couldn’t imagine facing the cold of winter without the thought of my son waiting with eager anticipation for the magic of finding his presents under the Christmas tree.

For more information and my views to do with the above two items watch a video I just posted last night,  Christmas All Year Aroud and Lawsuit against Government schools .

Pope calls for Mideast peace

(Here is some left over news from last week (Christmas.)

Pope Benedict XVI
called Thursday for peace in the Middle East and stability in Africa during his traditional Christmas speech in St Peter's Square.

"May the divine light of Bethlehem radiate throughout the Holy Land, (bringing) forth rich fruit from the efforts of all those who (shun) the twisted logic of conflict and violence," he said, addressing thousands of pilgrims gathered in the square and millions of viewers on television.

In the Middle East, "the horizon seems once again bleak for Israelis and Palestinians," said the 81-year-old pontiff after nearly four years on the papal throne.

Benedict also spoke out strongly about greed, saying "our world will certainly fall apart ... if people look only to their own interests."

"Wherever the selfishness of individuals and groups prevails over the common good ... may the light of Christmas shine forth and encourage all people to do their part in a spirit of authentic solidarity," the pope urged.

(Most  outside of  the Hitlers of the world and those who follow radical Islam want peace. However the Bible teaches there will be no peace until Jesus returns. Also Christmas should be a time when spiritual leaders from the Christian faith preach Jesus came to save us and give us peace in our souls, no matter if there is peace in the world not. It is not a time to preach a man made peace. If you like read more of what the Pope said check it out Pope calls for Mideast peace .)

One Solitary Life Christmas Day

Below is a post which I wrote a few years ago around  Christmas. As they say it might be old but it is a good one if I do say so myself.

One Solitary Life Christmas Day 2006
He was a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another obscure village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty, and then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never owned a home. He never set foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place where He was born. He had no credentials but Himself. While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against Him. His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth while He was dying -- and that was His coat. When He was dead, He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend. Nineteen wide centuries have come and gone and today He is the centerpiece of the human race and the leader of progress. I am far within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, and all the navies that ever were built, and all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, put together have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as that One Solitary Life. By James A. Francis That man was, and is of course Jesus Christ who birthday we honor today December 25. Christmas isn't really Christmas until it happens in your heart. God reached down to us because we couldn't reach Him through our own lives including good works that is because all of us is what the Bible calls Romans 3:23 sinners. Take Jesus today and it truly will be Christmas. From my home to your home a very BLESSED and Merry Christmas!Until Next Time,I'm Billy Copyright December 2006

Bethlehem fills up with Christmas pilgrims

Thousands of Christian pilgrims gathered in Bethlehem's Manger Square on Wednesday to celebrate Christmas under the protection of security forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.  (   Bethlehem fills up with Christmas pilgrims   )

About 500 security men arrived from the West Bank cities of Ramallah and Jericho to provide security for the holiday. Similar deployments have taken place across the West Bank over the past year with U.S. backing.

"We expect about 40,000 visitors in Bethlehem this week," said Khouloud Daibes-Abu Dayyeh, the Palestinian Authority's minister of tourism.

Teaching Your Kids Values this Christmas

It's a tough economy out there, even for a kid. And many parents are wondering how to broach the subject. Should they shield their children from the hard times and spend like there's no tomorrow? Or is it better to share the reality that more families , often their own , simply can't have it all, even at Christmas? It can be a real dilemma.

(To find out how you can make this Christmas less stressful and how  to  use the hard  times we are going through as a nation to teach our children values, watch a video I just posted on You Tube 13 Year Old Writes Letter for Mom on Christmas 12-19.)

What will you tell your children about Santa Claus?

This time of year parents of faith struggle with what to tell their kids about Santa Claus. I know of Christian parents who do everything they can to keep anything of Santa out of  their home while others focus so much on Santa  that there is no room for anything to do with the Bible fact of Jesus birth and life.

This Christmas why not tell your kids about  the true  Saint Nick who was a priest and gave gifts in the name of Christ, To find out more about him listen to the Point radio commentary for today at the link below.

Christmas Giving Ideas and it's OK to tell your kids you're broke

It's a tough economy out there, even for a kid. And many parents are wondering how to broach the subject. Should they shield their children from the hard times and spend like there's no tomorrow? Or is it better to share the reality that more families , often their own , simply can't have it all, even at Christmas? It can be a real dilemma. (   Sometimes, it's OK to tell your kids you're broke  )

"I've explained the situation, and I've also avoided it," says Mimi Chacin, a mom and business owner in Miami whose husband lost his job in advertising. The family is doing OK. And in fact, the children's cooking classes Chacin teaches have remained full so far , a sign, she says, that many parents are still willing to spend on some extras for their kids.

"I find myself not wanting to put them under that stress, but also sitting down and explaining that things aren't easy for anybody right now," Chacin says of her sons, ages 9 and 4.

(My heart goes out to these parents. At the same- time I think this year could be the best to teach our kids to focus on things like family time, faith, and giving to those who have very little. God gave to us  His son Jesus. So we should give to others, shouldn't we? Giving also doesn't have to be money it can be your time.)

The Difference between Christ and Santa Claus

The Difference between Christ and Santa Claus

Santa lives at the North Pole.
Jesus is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh.
Jesus rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year.
Jesus is ever present.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies.
Jesus supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited.
Jesus stands at your door, knocks, and then enters
your heart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa.
Jesus is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is,
"Hi, little one, what's your name?"
Jesus knew our name before we were born.
Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too.
He knows our history, future and how many hairs are on
our heads.

A Different Christmas Poem by Michael Marks

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream..
