'Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Obama'... Developing...

Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned.

Obama's advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton's foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.

(The above is being reported on  DRUDGE and it is being reported  on guardian.co.uk. Read more of this story right here. I guess  Obama hasn't read  my post  HILLARY FOR SECRETARY OF STATE – IS HE KIDDING? or  the column in which  Dick Morris warned the new President not to offer Clinton  the job.  Is this part of  Obama paying the radical left back for the support it gave him.)

Breaking News:University cancels speech by Ayers

Radical-turned-educator William Ayers will not be speaking at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus next month. Ayers, a 1960s activist who now teaches at the University of Illinois, was scheduled to talk during a campus event. University officials said in a news release this evening that "the university’s threat assessment group monitored e-mails and other information UNL received regarding Ayers’ scheduled Nov. 15 visit and identified safety concerns which resulted in the university canceling the event." ( University cancels speech by Ayers)

(This is good news. I don't buy the safety concerns  reason but lets not worry about the reason and just rejoice that the state of Nebraska did the right thing while making a wrong a right.)

McCain VP Pick Is

The following is posted on the DRUDGE REPORT.

Senator John McCain has decided on his running mate, two Republican strategists in contact with McCain's campaign said Wednesday. He is expected to reveal his choice at a rally at a basketball arena in Dayton, Ohio, at 11 a.m. Friday.  (   McCain to announce running mate on Friday - International Herald Tribune  )

McCain's decision is known only to his small inner circle of advisers, no more than three or four people, who have refused all public discussion on the matter. Republicans close to the campaign said that the top contenders remained the same three men who have been the source of speculation for weeks: former Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and, possibly, Senator Joseph Lieberman, independent of Connecticut.

(Lets all hope it is somebody from the right which will help Mr. McCain with us on the right. I would hate to see the gains McCain has made with voters be wasted,)

Conservative icon Jesse Helms dead at 86...

Jesse Helms, the firebrand U.S. senator whose outspoken, conservative views polarized North Carolina and U.S. voters for decades, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday in Raleigh, according to John Dodd, president of the Jesse Helms Center.

He joins the second, third and fifth presidents of the United States – John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe – who also died on Independence Day. He was 86.

Helms served five terms in the U.S. Senate, retiring in 2003 because of his faltering health. During his 30 years in Capitol Hill, the North Carolina Republican became a powerful voice for a conservative movement that was growing both in Congress and across the country, and he used his position to speak out against issues like gay rights, federal funding for the arts and U.S. foreign aid.

"I had sought election in 1972 to try to derail the freight train of liberalism that was gaining speed toward its destination of government-run everything, paid for with big tax bills and record debt," Helms wrote in his 2005 memoir, "Here's Where I Stand."

"My goal, when my wife, Dot, and I decided I would run, was to stick to my principles and stand up for conservative ideals."

(Helms did many good things for the right. He did what he thought was right and didn't worry about what the polls say. He was on the right before that was cool. I also have heard he did  kind things which of course the media didn't report. Read more about Sen. Helm's life conservative firebrand Jesse Helms dies on Independence Day. )

Sen. Kennedy hospitalized with symptoms of stroke

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was hospitalized Saturday after becoming ill at his home, his office said. There was no immediate word on his condition.
(Read more of this story Sen. Kennedy hospitalized with symptoms of stroke. Besides reading this story I hope you will pray for Kennedy not only far as his health goes but far as where he might be or should be in his spiritual walk. Even those of us who don't agree with Kennedy should do that. That is what the Bible I read commands us  to do.)
